Living Room Tour

Kelly from Kelly's Korner hosts a weekly 'Show Us Your Life' link-up.  This week she is starting a series that includes home tours!  I cannot tell you how much I live for this kind of thing.  I just love to peek into other peoples houses, and see how they decorate their homes.

First up, living rooms.  Ironically, I just did a small series of posts myself that included my living room wall decor.  I thought it only fitting that I go ahead and sum up that series with a look at how it all fits together.  So, for those of you who follow my blog, you may see some repeat pictures in this post, but a few new ones as well.  And, for those of you who don't follow, I hope you stay a while, have a look around, and leave inspired!

TV Wall:
The big frames have my kids faces in them, and
the smaller frames have the saying 'Thank you, Lord, for my blessings'....
a little something I scrapped up. :)

Piano Area:
*Kids' school photos
* Scentsy warmer with a Cherry Vanilla Scent....(smells so good)
*Ceramic pedestals that go perfectly with the hanging cross print between the sconces.
*The MUSIC wall letters I made myself, and you can see a tutorial on those here.

Couch Area:
*Metal wall art
*Serving tray turned photo frame upcycle, tutorial found here
*Decorative wall sayings on the left.

Grandparent Tribute Wall:
*Photos of my maternal grandparents when they were young (19-20 yrs.)

Full View of Living Room:

The one corner of the living room that I didn't show is my home office, which will be in a future post that includes organizing those unending stacks of paper, receipts, bills, and managing a schedule.

I also thought I'd leave you with a little Pinsperation....
You see, the door on the far end of the living room looked like this yesterday:
We've been in this house for almost 4 years, and this door has been there for just as long.
Talk about sticking out like a sore thumb.....I had had enough!
So, I painted it.

Nothing says motivation like prepping for a blog post....lol.

I had found a PIN on Pinterest recently that told me to do this when painting....
Instead of painters tape, which never goes on like you want it to,
just use tin foil to mold around the doorknobs, locks etc.
Works like a charm.

Next week's feature on 'Show Us Your Life' is kitchens.
Be sure to stop back because I got a whole 'latte' kitchen to show ya!

Girls Room Decor

Does your kids' bedrooms need a little facelift?
Here are some wall letters I made for my daugther's room.
You can purchase these wooden letters at Hobby Lobby,
and they have pre-drilled holes in the back for easy hanging.

First, I picked out some pattern paper to go with her room decor:

I then turned each letter over, and traced it with a pen onto the paper designated for that letter:

After cutting the traced letters out, I used Mod Podge to adhere the paper to the letter:

Some hot glue, a little tulle,  and a little bling later,

Watermelon SliceD

Who loves watermelon?

It's nearly impossible to go through an entire summer without having at least one slice, am I right?

I have to admit, I hardly ever buy it because...
  • It's messy.
  • It's big.
  • I never ever slice it the right way.
  • It's messy.....I'm sorry, did I mention that already?
Well, I can't do much about the size of it, but I can tell you how to make it less messy, and how to cut it the right way!  You're excited, aren't you?

Cut the watermelon into quarters.
(You see 2 quarters here):

Go one step further, and cut each quarter in half.
(Below you see only 1/2 of the watermelon. Is this making sense?)

From there, you just go ahead and slice the watermelon into single servings like you see below:

Voila!  Individual sliced watermelon for everyone!
Perfect for a summer BBQ, and serves a lot of people:

I have to give a shout out to my dear friend, Jennifer,
who taught me this ingenious bit of information.

Who knew, right?

USA Home Decor

Just in time for Memorial Day and Independence Day.....I made some Patriotic blocks, and I want to share how I did it:

I gathered 3 blocks~ 2.5 inches cubed.
I chose some Patriotic themed scrapbook paper.
I had my adhesive ready, and tulle for added embellishment.

Next, I used my paper trimmer to cut 2 and 1/4 by 2 and 1/4 inch squares.

Then, I used my adhesive to glue the paper to the cube.  I decorated all 6 sides of the cube, but would recommend leaving the bottom side of the cube untouched.  It will stack easier that way.

After adhering the paper to the cube, I used my Cricut machine to cut out the letters U, S, and A.
I cut 6 of each letter, one for each side.

After adhering the letters to the cubes, I thought it needed a little something else.
And, since I heart tulle, that's what I used. :)

I think it turned out so fun and festive!
You can stack them so many different ways, and it's a great centerpiece for a
Memorial Day or Independence Day table-scape.

Thanks for stopping by!

WRITE On

Have I mentioned I love Pinterest?

If you know not what I am speaking of, go here.  Just be forewarned, if you have never been to Pinterest before, the following paragraph will make absolutely no sense to you whatsoever. It's your own fault really,  because this is the second time I've told you to go to Pinterest on my blog, and the third time in this paragraph alone.....lol.

I have so many Pinterest boards...50 to be exact.... that I thought I'd just go ahead and share with you one of my boards once a week.  So, that gives me an entire year's worth of Pinterest posts on my blog!  That is, of course, if I don't add any more boards between now and then.....highly unlikely.

I figured out how to add a 'Follow Me On Pinterest' button, so if you see what you like, please do just that!

Follow Me on Pinterest

You are in for a treat today.  My board entitled 'WRITE On' is a series of posters/prints that scream sarcasm.  And, as you can see from my bio in my right sidebar, I. HEART. SARCASM.

So, let's just get on with it........

I hope these made you smile today....because it really doesn't matter if I'm reading it for the 1st time or the 100th time, I laugh so hard every time. :)  Check back next week for a new Pinterest board.  See that?  That's the 8th time I've directed you to Pinterest (9th).  What are you waiting for?

Have a great weekend!
